Check on the router label
All routers come with a label on which is printed the information that you need to get to the admin area. The label is usually on the bottom of the device. If you have a mobile wifi router, the label may be inside the battery case. In any case, whatever it’s location, you will be able to find a raft of information on there.
There will be the default Rain 5G IP address. There will also be the default username, along with the default password. On some devices, you will also have the default WiFi password on there. So, everything that you need in order to get inside your router.
Find your 5G router’s IP address using command prompt
If you are on a computer, Windows has a nifty utility called Command Prompt. This utility can be used to find the IP address for any Rain 5G router. But how does that work? The following instructions should be helpful;
- Connect your computer to your Rain 5G router’s network. It doesn’t matter if there is no internet. This trick will work anyhow.
- Now look for Command Prompt on your Windows computer. Simply open the search utility and type in cmd.
- Once Command Prompt has been opened, type ipconfig into the window and press on the enter button.
- Go to Default Gateway and you will see your router’s IP there.
Why log into your router?
There could be many reasons for wanting to log into your Rain router. Perhaps you are looking to change your WiFi password. We have a popular article on how to change the Rain 5G router WiFi password.
South Africans are crafty people, and changing your password could become necessary if you suspect there are people helping themselves to your data without taking the courtesy of notifying you.
Or maybe they notified you that they, one way or the other, got hold of your password. But instead of being grateful for their honesty, you are now trying to kick them out. That can be done by changing the password in the admin area of your router.
Or maybe you wish to change the name of your connection to something fancy. A lot of people have been doing this. We once came across a network called “My WiFe” and another called “Get your own WiFi.”
In the first instance, it’s hard to imagine the actual wife, if there is any, being thrilled to being equated to senseless electromagnetic waves.
