Openview Channels vs DSTV EasyView Channels
Openview is free. The only payment that you are going to have to make is when you buy the decoder. With the country expecting to switch off analog signals in favor of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Openview has become a favorite for those that do not qualify for the free, government provided DTT decoders. If your income is above R3500 per month, then you don’t qualify for the DTT decoder. The solution is to get an Openview decoder.
Anyway, how does Openview compare against DSTV? DSTV has an entry level package called DSTV EasyView. EasyView costs only R29 per month. It’s virtually free, so it’s a great point of comparison with Openview. In terms of the number of channels, you get a lot more with DSTV EasyView.
You get 36 TV channels. Meanwhile, Openview gives you 20 channels. Many of the Openview channels can be found on DSTV. That includes the SABCs and ETV. On top of that, you get other channels that are not on DSTV, including France 24 and Zee One.

Should I get Openview?
If you are not a fan of making monthly DSTV payment, then Openview is a worthy alternative. Of course, you won’t get the same level of intensity in terms of choice, but if you are happy to watch local productions, you won’t go wrong with the SABCs and with eTV.
