If you do not take any steps to either cancel or renew your MTN contract before the end of the agreed upon period, the contract will automatically be renewed on a month to month basis. However, you will lose any promotional discounts that you may have been enjoying all along.
What options do you have at the end of your MTN contract
That’s the answer to the question, “what happens when my MTN contract expires?” But what options do you have? Here, we have been looking at a scenario where you take no steps relating to your contract. The following are your options;
- First, you have the option to renew your MTN contract. That’s what many people do. It’s only logical, if you take the time to think about it. Many people take gadgets as part of their contracts. However, after 2 years, the gadget that you got will probably be rather old and obsolete. So, a lot of people take the opportunity to get the latest phones and other gadgets.
- Other people take the opportunity at the end of the contract period with MTN to cancel the contract altogether. We have previously written on how to cancel an MTN contract. If you do it before the time agreed upon, you will pay penalties and charges on the gadgets that you got. However, if do it when your MTN contract expires, what happens is that you won’t have to pay anything. You just need to give 20 days notice.
- You can also opt to get a new MTN contract when your current one expires. That’s different from renewing. Here, we are talking about signing up for a completely new contract with different terms.
