Many people living in South Africa are from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique and elsewhere. These people activate roaming when visiting their home countries. But there are instances where it may be advisable to stop roaming on Cell C.

Why stop roaming?
We have previously written on how to activate roaming on Cell C. So, why would you then decide to stop roaming? Well, it mostly has to do with cost.
International roaming can be very expensive. That’s because you are not only paying for calls that you make from your phone, you also pay for calls made to your phone.
Just to illustrate the point, when roaming on Zimbabwe’s NetOne, a local call costs R15 per minute. If you call South Africa, that will cost your R15. And if you receive a call, you will have to pay R10.
So, cost is a major consideration when it comes to stopping roaming. It’s one reason why people take this step. If you are going to be visiting another country for a few days, roaming makes sense.
However, if you are going to be visiting for weeks or months, it’s way better to simply buy a local SIM. That way, you won’t have to pay through the nose due to roaming charges.
